Our Family DNA

The good news that holds our church family together.

God

God is the King of the universe. He made everything and sustains it. He is good and deserving of everyone to devote their life to Him.

People

We have all wanted to be the king of our own lives. But we messed it up and hurt ourselves and those around us. These acts of rebellion we’ve all committed are called sin and are deserving of God’s judgment.

Jesus

Instead of punishing us for our rebellion, God loved us so much that He sent Jesus to earth to suffer in our place. God raised Him from the dead to make Him King of everyone and everything and to offer forgiveness and new life to those who trust in Him.

Our Response

God has now helped us do two things in response to this news: our church family has each (1) turned away from living our lives as our own king to let Jesus be our king instead and (2) believed in Him.

Our church’s mission is to help people follow Jesus.

We do this by sharing the good news of Jesus, baptizing those who trust Him, and teaching everyone to follow His teachings together as a church family.

What to Bring

Just bring yourself! We have Bibles available if you don’t have one. We also project lyrics and scripture on screen so you can follow along easily.

Children

Kids are welcome to stay in the service, or we have a staffed nursery and children’s classes during the sermon for ages up through 5th grade.

Where to Enter

Our building is at 2005 Rochester Rd. in Royal Oak. Look for the main entrance on the north side of the building. Greeters will welcome you and help you find your way!

Our Story

A legacy of faith spanning over eight decades.

1938

Rev. Raymond Riggs founded what would become Central Oaks as a small Free Will Baptist congregation in Detroit, Michigan. What began as a handful of faithful believers would grow into a lasting church family.

1960

The growing church relocated to its current home at 2005 Rochester Rd. in Royal Oak, putting down roots in the community where it continues to serve today.

Today

Over 88 years later, Central Oaks Community Church is still faithfully preaching Christ and making disciples. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” — Matthew 28:19
