Ways to Volunteer

Our Pillars

Fighting for a better Troy — one meeting, one conversation, one vote at a time.

Club Meetings

Monthly gatherings every fourth Thursday featuring speakers on local politics, progressive causes, and ways to get involved in your community.

Youth Engagement

Millennials and Gen Z — this is your time. We’re fighting for climate action, reproductive rights, LGBTQI+ protections, and health care for your generation.

Voting Rights

Defending free and fair elections for all citizens. Our voices must be stronger and more united to protect the democratic process for every American.

Community Events

From candidate forums to community service, we host events that bring Troy together and give you the tools to make a real difference locally.

Get Involved

What will you tell the next generation when they ask what you did to keep America a democracy?

1

Canvass for a Candidate

Walk door-to-door meeting neighbors and sharing campaign literature. Training provided — a great way to get your steps in.

2

Run for Precinct Delegate

Help neighbors understand issues, work on campaigns, and vote on the Democratic Party platform. Many Troy seats are unopposed.

3

Join a City Board

Parks, sustainable design, city planning, historical preservation — every department has advisory committees seeking citizen volunteers.

4

Write Letters to the Editor

Editorial boards listen to their readers. Local letters get more attention — make a list of papers and start writing.

5

Personalize Postcards

Direct mail is proven to sway voters. Handwrite postcards at your own pace to make a difference from your own space.

6

Join a Campaign

Every candidate needs office help, speechwriters, and organizers. If your skills lean toward the written arts, they need you.

7

Phone Bank

Talking to voters is rewarding work. Remind them to vote, make the case for a candidate, or simply answer their questions.

8

Address City Council

City leaders need to hear from citizens. Nearly every council meeting has time for public comments — make your voice heard.
